Congratulations Mathew Smith

Achievement Against All The Odds .   Matthew Smith (Matt) completed his Apprenticeship programme with Charnwood in April 2005 against all the odds…   Matt has worked in the licensed Hospitality industry since 2000, and had previously experienced difficulty in progressing in other sectors, due to having Dyslexia and Diabetes.   With the support from his current employer, the Bell and Barge at Rugby and Charnwood Training Officer, Steven Zaparaniuk, Matt began an individually planned programme to build his confidence and break down his barriers to learning.

His individual programme included interactive learning resources such as Skillswise, Learn Train and Creative Learning Materials (CLM) to make learning fun.

Since completing his Apprenticeship, Matt has completed his Company Foundation Management Programmed and gained the position of Duty Manager.  He has enrolled with Charnwood to achieve his Advanced Apprenticeship in Hospitality Supervision.

Charnwood are proud of Matt and his achievements, and welcome the opportunity to support him in completing his individual learning plan

Matt said,  “I’m really proud of what I have achieved.  Steve has given me a new view to learning and Charnwood have given me a programme that was based around me.  With their support there should be no stopping me.”
